Jewish communities in the United States underwent significant cultural & political shifts in the 1980s.

The 1980s was a decade of social and economic security for the Jews of the United States. The overall growth of their communities was boosted by an unexpected source: the kollel. It was also a time in which the assumption that Jews vote for the Democratic party was first challenged.
