To Wipe out Amalek

"To Wipe Out Amalek" by Robert Goodman - Ancient battle scene

When Father and Mother were walking due east
As they left Egypt’s slavery behind them,
The lingering shadows about them took form
And the hand of Amalek did find them.
And he struck them with brazenness, fought them with hate
On destruction and blood was he set,
You shall wipe out Amalek from under the heavens –
To do this you cannot forget!

The core of Amalek is hatred of God
And the people he holds close and dear,
He shows no concern for the value of life
And the hand of the Lord does not fear.
A foul, malign tumour, he makes for the roots
To the soul of our world is a threat,
You shall wipe out Amalek from under the heavens –
To do this you shall not forget!

The force of Amalek still plagues us today
As he battles to cool off our fire,
If he freezes our heart, he can seize us and drag us
Way down to the straits, dark and dire.
He knows why we’re here and his fight stems from fear
But he’ll poison the world if he’s let,
So how do we wipe him from under the heavens
This duty we must not forget?

In our hearts and our minds must be kindled and stoked
A fierce love for our God, the creator,
As it grows it gains power, till Israel are pure –
And can move to destroy those who hate her.
So tremble, Amalek, we’re coming for you,
The world will be rid of you yet
You shall wipe out Amalek from under the heavens –
To do this you will not forget!
