The Yom Kippur War (II): The Cherbourg Boats

The Cherbourg Boats
Long before there was a 'start-up nation' the children of Israel were the 'can do people.' But the Jewish state's constant crisis-solving posture has often created new challenges of its own.

In part two of our effort to build the context for the surprise of the Yom Kippur War, we examine the breakdown of relations between the State of Israel and France and the development of Israel’s Shayetet 13 naval commando unit. It is a story of technological revolutions, unstoppable confidence and even what might be called an act of piracy.
