Earth, Wind & Fire

Shamir, Yellin-Mor & Eldad

Solid, dependable, unbreakable
A pillar of hard-packed earth
Crunching forward like a bulldozer
To work the strings of war
Planting mines, firing missiles
Commanding the body to strike
Directing the spirit
Into weapons and warfare
To bring down the regime
One blow at a time

Calm, cunning, calculating with care
And brilliant
Reading the winds of the world
To channel into Hebrew sails
Scanning the board
With Marxist eyes,
Translating Jewish dreams
Into the language of revolution
So others may know our nature
And move to stand by our side

Burning, scorching, a veritable volcano
Rising like a phoenix from the annals of history
Churning out flame and ash
From the deepest recesses of a blazing soul
Coals from the cave of Rabbi Shimon bar-Yoḥai
Drawn through wizened veins and carved into shafts of fire
A fire that enters the hearts of the youth
That melts rock and destroys cedars
Paving the glorious road to Malkhut Yisrael

Earth, wind and fire
Chained themselves to a vision
United – an unmatched force
Beating back bullets from left and right
Every boulder in their path smashed
Into little bits
Love for the land, the people
Rising within them like an ocean
Hatred for the enemy
Focused into every shot
The sword and the book charging in tandem
Down the road to redemption
Until – until they were not united,
Allowing the chains to break
And the wind drifted
And the fire – shunted
And the earth – left empty

Which brings us to today:
Can wind and fire coexist in an earthen vessel?
On this does our salvation depend?

Though everyone knows fire and water
Cannot combine in one vessel,
No one ever thought to explain to me
About fire and wind –
Yet it has been done before.

So start with fire
That is a must.
Once it has filled you
Learn the language of the wind
That it may take you to high places
For the strongest fire cannot spread
Without a cooling breeze to guide the flames

But remember we can only move forward
When our feet are on the ground
