Time is Money

Time is Money

“Time is money” they say
And it pains me to admit
There’s some truth to what they say

In the hustle and bustle of life
In the rat race to make a living
There’s never enough time to make enough money

We spend our whole damn lives
Wishing we could have just a little more
Who knows if it’s time or money we desire?

But maybe for just a moment
If we take a little time
And allow ourselves to reflect,

On the senselessness of chasing cents
And buying things and charging rents
While we miss what really matters…

And if not just for a moment
But for a day of every seven
We force ourselves to stop!

No work, no money, no bills
Just me and you and our Lord
Who stopped the March of time to give us rest.

Could we take this day to make a change
And carry that change through the week
To enrich the coming days?

And if not just for a day
But for a year if every seven
We tell our masters, “Stop!”

No plowing, no sowing, no debts
Just me and you and our land
Which provides us with all that we need.

Let’s make this coming year
The end of this murderous cycle
And show the world – no, time isn’t money!
