I Long for the Day

I Long for the Day

I long for the day
When hand and heart and tongue and all things between
Align themselves to the tune
That plays in the depths of the soul
To lend a voice to the harmony
That ripples and weaves and synthesizes
With the fabric of Creation itself

I long for the day
When mankind learns to harness this song
And takes his place
Among an orchestra of epic proportions
String and brass and wind
Rising and falling
On a song that lifts us all

I long for the day
When the broken stones of the breastplate
Are restored to their rightful sockets
To see the fragmented lights they spill forth
Blue, green, red
Combine once again to purest white
And bathe the world in a brilliant glow

I long for the day
When mankind learns to finally see
That we are wicks in a lamp
Not bricks in a pyramid
